Charlotte Chowdhury grew up between two worlds: a father born in Chittagong, raised in Kolkata, who arrived in Paris at 18; a French mother who worked in fashion show production in the 1980s, with hand-embroidered saris and couture pieces in the closets. This fertile contrast is the raw material of Rescha. A graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, Charlotte joined Jacquemus from the house's earliest days, spending four years as part of the founding team. She then worked with Wales Bonner and Lemaire, and consults for French couture houses, including Chanel on textiles. Rescha was born in 2022, during lockdown, when she was 30. The name comes from the Hindi resha, meaning thread, with a C for Charlotte. The brand is her utopia: a space where French structure and Indian ornament coexist. Hand embroidery, raw silk, hand-knit bras, bindi motifs, seamless draping. Two cultures that become one single thread.
