Stockholm, 2012. Paulina Liffner von Sydow is searching for the bag she wants to wear, but cannot find it. The designs around her feel either too traditional or too dictated by trends and logos. So, she decides to sketch her own. She founds Liffner, driven by the desire to redefine the luxury bag.
The Swedish designer is no stranger to fashion. Before launching her brand, she worked in public relations and communications within the industry. Yet, rather than mimicking the formulas of the major fashion houses she knows so well, she chooses Stockholm as her anchor and slowly develops a more personal vocabulary: clean lines, sometimes unexpected proportions, sculptural details, and above all, a quiet presence with almost no visible branding.
Liffner calls this approach “expressive minimalism.” It is a phrase that perfectly captures the tension she seeks: inheriting the restraint of Scandinavian design, while refusing to let minimalism mean blending in.
Designed in Sweden, crafted in Italy. The collections are produced in small batches in a family-run atelier near Florence, where Italian leatherwork and heritage bring the Stockholm-imagined silhouettes to life.
Since then, the house has grown without losing its counter-current edge: building a signature identity without turning its name into a pattern.
