iPhone. Unlock. Code: 873637. My Notes: Objects list. Content: Empty. “Hey Siri, send mayday, mayday to Leia Sfez.” A few weeks ago, I unpacked my boxes in the 7th arrondissement. A new apartment, tenderly christened “La Maison Vide.” This time, less IKEA, more intention. An Amelia armchair by Andre Grippi, a valet tray by Jaroslav Beranek (1960), and an art book, Les Trésors de Turquie, 1966 by Istanbul Edits on the coffee table.
Where to find these pieces of my dreams? In Leia’s own apartment. Yes, I see The Oblist platform as a cabinet of curiosities... one that the model and muse to couturier Claude Montana has been curating since her earliest childhood. It is a place of vintage furniture, contemporary design, art, and found objects, defying the boundaries of eras. A rebellious approach to interiors, shared with her husband Gary Sfez.
Leia explains that she honed her eye by constantly searching for pieces for herself, focusing on materials, proportions, and craftsmanship rather than adhering to a single era or movement. This philosophy defines The Oblist: the platform seeks out designers and artisans across borders, prioritizing objects made in small batches or made-to-order—a conscious choice to bypass the cycle of overproduction.
