My kind of clutter fits in a jewelry box from Copenhagen. Something messy.

A ragbag is, quite literally, a delightful jumble. A curious name for Danish jewelry of such precise design. Founded in Copenhagen in 2020, RAGBAG Studio draws from architecture, art, and nature to shape its sculptural pieces. Silver, pearls, onyx: everything is meant to be layered. In the end, this kind of clutter is beautifully organized.

Founded in Copenhagen in 2020, RAGBAG Studio designs its collections at the intersection of art, architecture, and organic forms, creating four collections a year in its Danish studio. Sterling silver, 18-karat gold plating, freshwater pearls, and natural stones come together to form this beautifully controlled chaos.

The name itself reads like a manifesto. In English, a ragbag is a disparate assembly, a patchwork of different things. When the brand recently asked stylist Maya Soul Paustian what the word evoked for her, she replied: an eclectic mix of influences, never just one thing. Asked the same question, Danish textile artist Laura Starup was even more direct: “Something messy.”

Yet this playful disarray takes on a serious edge when looking at the references. For its Dualism collection, RAGBAG gathers Max Ernst, Josef Albers, Helen Frankenthaler, and Le Corbusier in a single jewelry box: from the surrealism of the first to the chromatic studies of Albers, and the architectural geometries of Le Corbusier.

The same tension animates Oculus: starting with a droplet shape from the house's archives, the collection transforms it into circular openings inspired both by the controlled structures of architecture and the organic curves of nature. Highly Copenhagen, after all.

And RAGBAG seems well aware of a very practical dilemma born of this abundance: where to keep the jewelry? The house now offers its own Jewelry Case, a rigid canvas box structured with compartments for rings, earrings, necklaces, and small treasures. A charming detail: Laura Starup admits she needs one because her own collection always ends up scattered across various little boxes and dishes.
