Raphia, the hand, the dialogue: Inès Bressand, designer of lived-in objects.

Inès Bressand: a French designer with an artisanal touch. Famed for her raffia basket bags, born from a dialogue with craftsmen (notably African artisans through her Akamae project), she creates minimal, eclectic objects. Always with a playful twist. Exhibited from Dover Street Market to Villa Noailles.

Inu00e8s Bressand is a designer for whom beauty starts with the hand. Deeply artisanal, her practice yields objects both minimal and eclectic, always touched by a sense of play, where nature and humanity matter as much as form. She feels more at home in a craftsman's workshop or a women's collective than a design studio, and views traditional objects as masterpieces.

She is best known for her raffia straw bags born from dialogues with artisans, notably in Africa, through her project Akamaeu2014where research is guided by pencil and hand rather than computer. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Wallpaper, and Harper's Bazaar, exhibited from Dover Street Market Paris to Villa Noailles, and presented alongside designer Peter Mabeo, who penned her biography.
