Everyday hardware, reimagined by a former designer for Maison Kitsuné.

This beautiful story begins in San Francisco with a food cover—highly practical, but frankly not very beautiful. Charlotte Ripert, then a stylist with stints at Maison Kitsuné, brought it back to Paris; her mother suggested she make something of it. Wabi was born in 2020, rooted in the belief that the most ordinary household objects also deserve a touch of taste. Since then, the dish cover has grown into a family: Norman tea towels, Opinel knives, Nordic Ware molds, utensils, pantry essentials, and thoughtfully curated objects form a general store where you could almost recreate your entire kitchen.

Charlotte Ripert has lived in San Francisco for several years, where she used fabric bowl covers instead of plastic wrap—practical, yes, but aesthetically lacking. She brought some back to Paris. In early 2020, her mother spotted them and suggested there might be something to invent there. Charlotte knows clothing inside out. Having worked as a stylist, notably for Maison Kitsuné, she ultimately applied to the kitchen what she had always done with a wardrobe: look at a material, a color, a cut, and ask why the useful should ever surrender to the beautiful.

Wabi began with its own signature bowl covers, then gradually expanded to all that domestic hardware we handle without ever truly seeing. Tea towels woven in Normandy, Opinel knives, Nordic Ware molds, Lagostina utensils, Lisa Corti placemats, pantry staples, and home goods now sit side by side in what Wabi calls its French General Store. Some pieces are developed with French workshops—the brand has worked with the same Parisian atelier since the very beginning—while others are simply chosen because they do their job exceptionally well. The name itself comes from wabi-sabi, the Japanese appreciation of imperfection and the passage of time. Charlotte loves the idea of an object fading, staining, and becoming more personal the more it is used.
