Her childhood home was already filled with sculpture: pink onyx, black marble, and the pieces collected by her mother, an opera singer. She trained first in fashion design, but when she imagined her Drapée collection in 2012, she clearly brought the instincts of clothing with her. Her starting point is almost literal: wax wrapped like fabric. Once cast in metal, the imaginary cloth retains its folds, its motion, and that haunting illusion of softness—the ring, the cuff, or the choker draped directly onto the skin.
The designer would later extend this dialogue between materials far beyond jewelry, working with bronze, Lecce stone, or Carrara marble, and shaping her forms directly by hand. She even speaks of loving marble and alabaster the way others love emeralds and rubies. Her jewelry is still produced in small batches in Parisian workshops, where the pieces are cast, polished, and gilded.
