Dive, swim, repeat. At La Fondation, discipline tastes of the dolce vita.
Sculpted silhouettes. Chocolate, cream, azure, or lie-de-vin. Slip it into your bag for a few laps at La Fondation, without waiting for your next ticket to Cassis.
A life coach would probably tell us: “You do not lack discipline. You lack a temptation to escape.” We know the excuses by heart: “I will swim tomorrow.” “I will skip the session, just this once.” “I will start again on Monday.”
Yet, discipline? Out of fashion, from being far too fashionable. This season, we prefer eight Japanese intentions to take with us between two laps.
Futaiten, never retreat.
Book the slot, slip the Céline one-piece in Vin de Borneo—romantic neckline and thick straps—into the bag the night before. Once in the locker room, there is no way out... it leads straight to the pool!
Shu-Ha-Ri, learn, detach, transcend.
Adjustable straps, structural cutouts, discreet support… The swimsuit does its job beautifully. Yours are the fundamentals, the breath, and the clean crawl.
Wabi-sabi, the beauty of imperfection.
Better an imperfect session than the perfect session never done. Every nuance less on the Borneo is one lap more… Cold water and flat drying, all the same. Wabi-sabi has its limits. Our love for the Céline has none.
Konjō, tenacity.
At the tenth lap, the urge to stop hits, and that is precisely when the session starts to count. Good news: the swimsuit holds strong. You won't have the excuse of readjusting it to catch your breath at the edge of the pool.
Ma, the intentional pause.
The silence between two notes makes the music; the rest between two sessions makes the swimmer. Bring along Capitale de la douceur by Sophie Fontanel, sourced from Circa Books. And let's face it, a Borneo photographs much better at the pool's edge.
Kaizen, continuous improvement.
One more lap per week. Nothing spectacular, but in a year, you won't recognize yourself. The Borneo, however, will have counted them all.
Ichi-go ichi-e, this moment happens only once.
The Vin turns to garnet underwater, to ruby the moment you step out. The light on the water, the pool almost empty. A mental photograph… Because I am that woman, today. The world belongs to those who rise to swim.
Tenmei, meaning comes through action.
Do we need to know why we swim? Put on the Céline, the rest will follow. Motivation comes in the water!
Borneo, a Parisian swimwear brand founded by a designer raised in Uruguay, takes its name from a Spanish nautical term: the swinging of a boat pivoting around its anchor. Small series developed in the 9th arrondissement, graphic and slightly retro silhouettes, recycled polyamide, pieces designed to last and taken back at the end of their life. A swimsuit made for summers, but also for Tuesday morning laps.
