There are two schools of thought in the world of the laid table. Those who take it seriously, to the point of austerity, and those who make every dinner a gentle intimacy. Morgane Van Marcke belongs to the second. The founder of Ceremony, first a food blogger under the name Humbly By Morgane, then author of the book The Radiant Table in 2021, has turned her art of table setting into a tableware brand. Antwerp as her home port, Italy and small workshops as manufacturing partners, and one mission: making you want to set the table on a Tuesday evening as you would on a Sunday noon.
The collection reads like a seasonal diary. White linen trimmed with lace, Roseraie and Baies embroidered placemats, Botanica jugs and dishes with plant motifs, polka-dot glasses, Bistrot gold cutlery with teak or horn handles. The latest addition is called Trancoso, a nod to Brazil, its raffia scrunchies as cutlery rests, its Dark Wood napkin rings, its dark palm salt shakers, its cocktail picks.
