Yet, Coralie knew clothes intimately. Before Prestesse, she spent over a decade as a designer in Parisian fashion and haute couture, with notable stints at Christian Dior Couture and Yiqing Yin. She knew how to judge a cut, build a silhouette, and choose a fabric. Yet, it was becoming a mother that changed how she looked at clothing.
While breastfeeding her daughter, skin-to-skin contact drew her attention to something far more mundane: her own synthetic underwear sat literally between their two bodies. The garments she had previously designed for allure suddenly became materials worn for hours against the skin. This was the spark of an idea that would take several years to become Prestesse.
Why have we become so demanding about the ingredients we apply to our skin, without showing the same curiosity for the fabrics we wear on it?
Prestesse designs its wardrobe as a "second skin". For GAÏA, its yoga legging, the brand collaborated with PYRATEX® on a fabric made of 83% GOTS-certified organic cotton and 17% recycled elastane, entirely polyester-free. A minor revolution when you consider how many technical leggings rely heavily on synthetic fibers for their stretch.
Next, Coralie took on swimwear. With SURYA, she chose SeaCell™, a cellulose-based fiber blended with seaweed. Testing her first prototype in the water, she recalls the sensation of swimming almost naked, yet perfectly supported. Even the lingerie follows this philosophy. The MOON bralette is crafted from SeaCell™ Lyocell, without underwires or compression.
