A long weekend in the English countryside, overlooking the North Sea. Salt, moor, repeat.

At Saltmoore, the weekend begins somewhere between the North Sea and the heather-clad Yorkshire moors. This former nineteenth-century estate has been reimagined as a holistic sanctuary. Morning yoga, a dip in the sea at Sandsend, a private lakeside sauna. Circadian-inspired Wildsmith Skin treatments. A lunch nourished, in part, by the kitchen garden.

Friday evening, somewhere in North Yorkshire. The road cuts through the moors, wind sweeping through the heather, with the North Sea waiting at its end. This very meeting point gives Saltmoore its name: salt for the wild Sandsend coast, moor for the wilderness beginning just beyond the house.

The address existed long before the wellness weekends. Saltmoore occupies a 19th-century estate, once known as Raithwaite Sandsend, now entirely reimagined as a sanctuary dedicated to well-being. Even the interiors of Saltmoore House borrow their palette from the landscape: the sandy tones of Sandsend, the golden hue of gorse blooming across the moors, and textures inspired by Yorkshire’s industrial and Victorian heritage.

Saturday, 8:00 AM: yoga. Then, wander down to Sandsend Beach for a dip in the North Sea—Saltmoore warmly encourages this sea dipping—before heading back to warm up in a private lakeside sauna with panoramic views over the water. A getaway to Yorkshire in November suddenly feels entirely essential.

At the Sanctuary, the philosophy is equally holistic. A heated pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, cold plunge, and relaxation areas sit alongside treatments by Wildsmith Skin and Germaine de Capuccini. Certain Wildsmith rituals are designed around the circadian rhythm: aligning with your natural cycles of waking, rest, and recovery.

For those who find the North Sea still too mild, Saltmoore even features a whole-body cryotherapy chamber: three minutes of intense cold before returning, quite paradoxically, to seek the warmth of the spa. Their Rebalancing day package seamlessly pairs cryotherapy with a one-hour treatment, thermal suite access, and lunch at the Wellness Café.

The estate cultivates its own kitchen garden, supplying the kitchens daily alongside North Yorkshire producers in a true farm to fork approach. After two hours at the spa, Saltmoore even offers an experience that concludes with freshly baked scones, clotted cream, jam, and tea.
