Ayça Özbank Taskan was born in Istanbul, into a family of artists. After studying architecture in Italy, she spent time in Finland and Germany, before settling in Paris to launch Mara Paris in 2015 alongside her partner, designer Gökçe Taskan. She envisions her jewelry as small, architectural sculptures to be worn against the skin, drawing inspiration from Alvar Aalto, Carlo Scarpa, Zaha Hadid, Brancusi, and Jean Arp. Sterling silver, vermeil, 18k gold, diamonds, and pearls, handcrafted by artisans between Paris and Istanbul, and shipped to over 90 countries.
