Neada Deters was born in Sydney, to a Filipino-Australian family. A graduate in art history, she became a lifestyle editor at Vice in New York, where she covered the beauty industry for years. The more she investigated, the less she trusted it: synthetic ingredients, parabens, a total lack of transparency. At the same time, she suffered from severe chronic cystic acne. She spent three and a half years working with a chemist in Los Angeles to develop a 100% organic line, and launched LESSE in 2018 with a single product, the Ritual Serum. Native Australian botanical extracts, adaptogenic mushrooms, medicinal herbs inspired by Eastern medicine. Every ingredient is listed, ethically sourced, often wild-harvested.
