Le Provençal: the Giens Peninsula hotel born from the dream of a former Lido director.

Le Provençal, a 4-star hotel on the Giens Peninsula (Var), facing the Golden Islands and Porquerolles, in the heart of the Port-Cros National Park. Born in 1951 from the dream of Marius Michel, former head chef of the Lido, it is a 75-year-old family saga: a seawater pool carved into the rock, 5 restaurants designed by Rodolphe Parente, artists-in-residence, and a 1950s Riviera spirit.

Le Provençal was born of a dream: that of Marius Michel, former chef of the Lido, who wished to build a grand hotel in the Riviera spirit on his native soil of the Var. In 1951, he bought a modest establishment on the Giens peninsula; six years of construction later, the hotel opened, serving as both a family home for the locals and a discreet paradise for celebrities.

Since then, the legend has unfolded facing the Golden Islands, at the heart of the Port-Cros National Park. In 1962, a saltwater pool was carved directly into the cliff, a diving board suspended over the deep blue. Today, the third generation—the Piffet brothers, alongside Julie Liger and Lene Arentsen—is reinventing this 1950s Riviera: 41 rooms and suites, five restaurants envisioned by designer Rodolphe Parente, artists-in-residence, and touches of cabaret.
