The name MERRMA holds a whole scene within it. Borrowed from Wagiman, an Australian Aboriginal language, the word describes the act of walking along the water’s edge, searching for something with your feet. An image chosen by Lorelei Goude and Jojo Schulte when they founded their brand in Paris in 2023.
The story begins with hair. MERRMA rehabilitates the clip, the headband, and the hair ornament as true fashion accessories, crafted with the care usually reserved for fine jewelry. Shapes are sculpted from cellulose acetate; certain pieces are assembled and beaded by hand in the Paris atelier, while French lace and silk gradually expand the house’s vocabulary.
Since then, the collection has escaped the hair: bags, scarves, hats, and small objects extend this same affinity for things we notice, gather, and end up collecting.
