In Moismont, Picardy, stands the grand family home—red bricks, rainy days, and, above all, the apple orchards tended by the brothers of Martine Nicolaï. India entered the landscape in 2005 when Martine met Poonam, who introduced her to the country and its textile traditions. The journeys multiplied; her daughter settled in Delhi while the rest of the family continued to live between Picardy and Paris. In 2012, Martine chose the scarf to bridge these worlds—an intimate object tied around the neck, slipped into the hair, lent and rarely returned. The patterns and colors are conceived in France, then entrusted to Indian artisans for weaving, dyeing, and, notably, woodblock printing.
The scarf soon made room for more: shirts and tunics arrived in 2018, followed by dresses, blouses, trousers, jackets, knitwear, bags, and textile pieces for the home. Yet Moismont retains this singular double identity: the Picardy countryside in the imagination, India in the fabrics and the craftsmanship.
